After graduating high school in 1960, John joined the Navy and served for three years before leaving the service to attend Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio. He was recruited by IBM in 1964 and worked for IBM in various staff/management positions with assignments in Columbus, Michigan and twice in Austin. He left the Austin IBM location in 1991 with an “early out”. From 1991 to 2006, he took management positions with three different companies; all in the Semiconductor industry. His last position was as a Purchasing Manager for Motorola (now Freescale) in Austin before he retired in August 2006.
John had a great love for the Ohio State Buckeyes and enjoyed golf and his daily afternoon time in the pool.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister and his eldest daughter. John is survived by Paula, his wife of 24 years, daughter Lori and her husband Greg, daughter Kim and her husband Ronnie, and daughter Lara and husband Gordon. He is also survived by his 3 dearly-loved grandchildren; Emma, Tyler and Sarah.
A memorial celebration of John’s life will be held at the Cook Walden Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home at a later date.
