John Walton Koonce

John Walton Koonce, 78, of Austin died suddenly at home on Sunday, October 12, 2003. He was born in Robstown, Texas, on September 5, 1925 to Walton and Corinne Koonce. John served in the Marines in World War II in the Pacific Theater. He graduated from Texas A & I and began his career as a civil engineer. John was a gentle, kind and caring man. He was a member of St. David’s Episcopal Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Caroline Marcum; and brother, Jim. He is survived by his wife, Eliane, who will miss his loving presence; his brother-in-law, Ed Marcum; nephews Jim Marcum and wife Becky, Eddie Marcum and wife Kathy; nieces Mollie Geyers and husband Bill and Debbie Byars and husband Bart.
