In his youth, John was a remarkable athlete, distinguishing himself in baseball and bowling. As a young adult, John became an avid coin collector and numismatist, even writing a book on rare coins.
John attended Rutgers University and served his country in both the United States Army and the National Guard. Later, he retired from the U.S. Postal Service before taking on a second career as an accountant, which fed perfectly into his genius with numbers.
Throughout his life, John took joy in the simple things: time spent with his wife and true love, Jude, and his children Celeste and J.R., reading voraciously, listening to music, gardening and spoiling all the family pets.
John is preceded in death by his grandparents and parents, who he loved dearly. He will be missed by many extended family members and friends, including his devoted caregivers, to whom John's family are eternally grateful.
In lieu of flowers, John's family invites you to make a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, one of John's favorite charities.
