January 20, 1944 – September 4, 2026
John Thomas Lovell, age 82, passed away on September 4, 20026 in Austin, TX. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
John proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, embodying the courage, discipline, and strength that would define him throughout his life.
He was a loving son, brother, uncle, cousin, neighbor, friend, father, and grandfather. He loved his granddaughters fiercely, and his generosity extended far beyond his own family — he gave freely and often to nonprofit organizations, quietly supporting causes close to his heart.
He is survived by his sisters, Martha McFerrin and Susan Lovell; his children, Mark Lovell, Ryan Lovell, and Lara Henry; and his granddaughters, Noelle and Elise Henry, whom he adored.
He was preceded in death by his parents, JT and Juanita Lovell.
John will be remembered for his witty one-liners and love of hunting, sailing, wood working, listening to Jimmy Buffett and any activity that involved his granddaughters.
A family service will be held on October 19, 2026 at the DFW National Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Smile Train and Wounded Warrior Project - organizations that were meaningful to him.
He will be forever loved and never forgotten.
