Johnnie L. Harris began his life on the glorious day of October 12, 1933 and joined his Lord Jesus Christ on May 26, 2021. He was born to his beloved parents, Mr. Gabriel Harris and Mrs. Naomi (Holden) Harris.
During his time with us, Johnnie met and married his beautiful wife Hattie M. Harris, raised and loved his children and made many friends along the way. He joined the United States Air Force and worked for the City of Austin water department as a manager. He loved going to church.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Hattie M. Harris; his children, Gwendolyn Williams (McArthur) of Newnan, Georgia, Robbin Harris of Shreveport, Louisiana, Pamela Harris (Darryl) of Shreveport, Louisiana, Sandra Roberts (Ricardo) of Shreveport, Louisiana, Johnnie Vincent Harris of Bastrop, Texas, Steven Harris of Austin, Texas, Phyllis McKissack of Austin, Texas, Bonnie Hughes of Austin, Texas, Florence Hughes of Austin, Texas, Everett Hughes of Austin, Texas; twelve grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on June 4, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until to 7:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, located at 6100 North Lamar Blvd., Austin, Texas. Funeral Services will take place on June 5, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church, 1725 West 11th Street, Austin, Texas with a graveside service to follow at Cook-Walden/ Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville, Texas.
He was a blessing to us all and we will never forget him. May we forever celebrate his life by remembering the happy times we spent with him and may we be reunited with him again in the future.
