Jonathan's career was marked by his dedication and passion. He served as an Associate Professor of Accounting at Austin Community College, starting in mid-August 2023. Jonathan cherished his time teaching and was excited about this new opportunity.
Additionally, he worked as the Assistant Director of Student Accounts at St. Edward's University from 2017 until his passing. Jonathan was also the owner and event organizer of Above Board, LLC. He loved the gaming community in Austin, and he enjoyed sharing his passion with newcomers and making them feel welcome in this community. His love for escape rooms led him to work part-time at The Escape Game in Austin for the past year and seven months. He even had the chance to travel to the company's headquarters in Nashville with the Austin team, an experience he thoroughly enjoyed.
Outside of his professional life, Jonathan had a wide range of hobbies and interests. He was an avid Lego enthusiast and worked for Lego setting up displays in new stores all around the state of Texas. He enjoyed participating in South Austin Game Night, the National Karaoke League, BGG, Medieval Times, IKEA Gatherings, Landmark, and Role Playing. A fun fact about Jonathan is that he earned his Bartending Certification in 1999 and worked tending bar at a Marriott Property for a period of time.
Jonathan will be remembered for his fun-loving and complex personality. As his friend, Adina, wrote on social media, "He was a fun-loving, complex individual who brought people together and had tons of fun. I will miss his light". We will all miss the light and joy that Jonathan brought into our lives.
