Scott was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Scott Clay, Sr, mother Muriel Gault Phillips and her husband Don A. Phillips and brother Jimmy Clay.
Scott is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty Long Clay. His two children: Donna Clay and Scotty Clay of Austin, Texas. Grandchildren: Christina Baxter, Morgan Clay and Cutter Clay of Austin, Texas. Great-Granddaughter: Hadley Scott Baxter.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 14th at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Austin, Texas. There will be a visitation at 12:30 p.m. and the service will immediately follow at 1:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church.
