Jerry first attended school in Addison, Texas in a small brick schoolhouse that later was converted to the restaurant, The Magic Time Machine. In 1951 the family moved to Ft. Worth, Texas. Jerry graduated from Arlington Heights High School in 1962. He briefly attended SMU in Dallas, later transferring to TCU in Ft. Worth. Following the death of his father he worked outside the home to help support his family: his mother Martha, brother Rick, and sister Marcia. He was employed by A&P Grocery and then General Dynamics in Ft. Worth. He eventually became a master machinist and moved to Dallas, where he worked for Texas Instruments and Dresser Industries.
In his later years after the death of his mother he moved to Austin, Texas where his younger brother and sister each lived. After a number of very difficult years when he was homeless, Rebecca and Curtis Christian invited him to live with them in Wimberley, Texas and he became part of their family. He remained with them enjoying a happy life until his passing.
Jerry was pre-deceased by his parents, Joe and Martha, and his older brother, Larry Landwehr. He is survived by his sister Marcia Moore, his brother Rick Landwehr (Nancy), by nieces Shannon Moore (Tom), Courtney Moore (Enzo), Leslie Weems (Andy), Martha Landwehr-Preston (Matt), Elaine Landwehr-Reitz, nephew Mark Landwehr, and by Rebecca and Curtis Christian.
For those wishing to honor Jerry, a donation to an organization that provides healthcare and support to the homeless would be appropriate.
