Joyce C. DeGlandon

Joyce Yvonne DeGlandon, 82, passed away on March 24, 2017 in Austin, TX. She was born on June 20, 1934 in Hare, TX to James Allen and Myrtle Hargrove Carter. Joyce attended Thrall High School and graduated in 1951 she enrolled in Durham’s Business College. She married Homer Merton DeGlandon on September 1, 1956. She was employed at Texas Highway Department and Skandinavian Contemporary as an Office Manager.

Joyce had accomplished a lot in her life. She had graduated from college, 55 years of marriage to her sweetheart, Homer DeGlandon, and the raising of their 3 daughters. Joyce was a proud survivor of breast cancer for 47 years. She taught Sunday school and WMU, Women’s Bible study and served in many areas in the church. She was a member of Northwest Baptist Church of Austin, Texas for 30 years and Crestview Baptist Church of Austin, Texas for 30 years. In her free time Joyce enjoyed traveling, reading, working crossword puzzles and playing games.

Joyce is preceded by her parents James and Myrtle Carter, siblings Mardelle Arnold and Bennett Carter and her loving husband Homer Merton DeGlandon.

Joyce is survived by her daughters, Nancy Kay DeGlandon of Pflugerville, TX, Dawn and husband Jon Grimes of Pflugerville, TX, and Denise and husband Barry Taylor of Hutto, TX. Grandchildren Jana and Myles Russell of Leander, TX, Jamie and Tony Montegna of Abilene, TX, Blake and Beau Taylor of Hutto, TX and numerous other loving family members.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 6:00-8:00pm, on Monday, the 27th of March 2017, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00pm on Tuesday, the 28th of March 2017, in the Colonial Chapel of Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas.
