

She is preceded in death by parents, Earnest & Melba Sudderth, husband Lt. Colonel Kennith Leon Robinson, sister Faye Collins & brother Harold Sudderth. Joyce is survived by her 5 children and their spouses – Ken and Lorita, Linda Lebo and Dennis, Mike and Debra, Mark and Debbie, and Rick and Suzanne. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren with another due in October, her twin brother Jack Sudderth and sister Margie Little, many nieces & nephews and other extended family members as well as lifelong friends and her wonderful church family.
Joyce grew up on a small farm outside of Leonard TX. Her mother died when she was 3 and she and her twin brother were raised by her father and her sisters. She was a good student and played basketball on the high school team. She and Kennith dated in high school and married at Hamilton Field, California on Christmas Eve, 1948. Before Kennith’s death in 2010, they had celebrated 61 years of marriage. The Robinson’s was the go to home in the neighborhood where there was always food and something fun going on.
Joyce was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt & friend. Joyce’s priority was always family; she made it look so easy. Many weekends were spent at grandma’s house, eating and enjoying everyone’s company. When it was time to go home, at least one set of grandchildren would be begging to spend the night which they often did. Her great grandchildren affectionately called her “GG”. She was soft spoken, generous & kind, and would do anything for anybody. She loved watching the grandkids swim and taught most of them to be water safe. She enjoyed drinking coffee with her friends, sitting on the back patio watching the martins and hummingbirds. Her dog Bingo was part was a part of the family and he spent his days curled up in her lap.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening, on Monday, the 30th of July 2012, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas.
The funeral service will be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Tuesday, the 31st of July 2012, at Holy Word Lutheran Church, 10601 Bluff Bend, Austin, Texas. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery, Pflugerville, Texas under the direction of Cook-Walden Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers and customary remembrances, the family suggests donations be made to Holy Word Lutheran Church, 10601 Bluff Bend Drive, Austin, Texas 78753.
