Joyce Whited

August 23, 1931November 13, 2020

Joyce Whited, age 89, from Austin, Texas, went to be with our Lord on Friday, November 13, 2020.

Joyce loved her family dearly and fiercely, beginning when she married her husband, Sonny, at the age of 16.

Joyce and Sonny’s love grew every year of the 61 years they were together. They worked hard for everything they had and her strength showed in all areas of her life. She showed her love for her family by cooking, sewing, singing, and dancing with each and every one of them.

She is preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, James “Sonny” Whited; and her grandchildren, Joyce Myra, James Allen and Diana.

Joyce is survived by her children and their spouses, Dennis and Brenda Whited, Evelyn and Dennis Ogrodny, James and Rita Whited, Eunice and Chuck Wilks, and Kenneth and Kris Whited. She was also well loved by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

I can remember as a child going and picking dew berries by the gallon for Aunt Joyce to make jam. I would always have fun. She was an amazing lady. She will be loved and missed very deeply. I love you.

I don’t have words worthy of describing this strong wonderful lady. She loved us all. She baked great homemade biscuits. She took her grandsons to dig for worms and go fishing. She took care of all of her grandchildren and taught them the same as she raised her children, to work hard, be honest and love family. She has left a legacy that will be carried on by her family and friends. I’ll never forget the time when she and papa cleaned our house. I got home first and just walked around in amazement and gratitude. I was a work-outside-the-home mom and she and papa were always there when I couldn’t be. Brought me peace of mind having them nearby. I love you, mom.

When Earl and I got married we went with Aunt Joyce and Uncle Sonny to the VFW on 620 to celebrate. We had a great time that night. I also worked with them cleaning houses, Aunt Joyce and UncleSonny made it fun, it didn't feel like work and she always brought more food than you can imagine and made me eat(even if I didn't wont to lol). She showed me nothing but love and respect. Going to miss you sweet Lady

Joyce was a wonderful mother. I remember how Jim and I would go on Saturday's to visit uncle sonny and Joyce. Sometimes we would join the family for dancing. She was down to earth and loving to her family. She will be missed by friends and family. I leave loving thoughts and prayers to the whited family.

I know Aunt Joyce is rejoicing in Heaven to be reunited with Sonny and all of her other family members who have gone before her. I’m sure she is laughing and singing at the top of her voice! I also know the pain of losing a loved one, even when we know they are in a much better place. I pray for comfort and peace for all of you.
