

Julia “Ann” Bahan went to be with God on December 28th having celebrated her 89th birthday. She was born to Merle and Julia Bahan on December 21, 1935, in Guthrie, Oklahoma. While growing up in Oklahoma, she had her first experiences with Texas when attending Camp Mystic in Hunt, Texas each summer. The family moved to San Antonio where Ann attended St Mary’s Hall and then went to Pine Manor College in Boston. She ended her education at the University of Texas enjoying being a Pi Beta Phi.
Ann had two children, Julia and Michael, with whom she shared her many loves such as summer camp, the beach, concerts, theater, and books. She was a terrific Aunt to her many nieces and nephews, enjoying family every chance she got. Ann had many friends and sponsored many people through their AA experience.
She was a member of the Austin Symphony League, Austin Friends of Folkart, Junior League of Austin Sustainers, University of Texas Sage, Austin Lyric Opera Guild, Pi Beta Phi Alumni, Texas Friends Resources, Westwood Country Club, Friends of Laguna Gloria Art Museum, Blanton Art Museum, Austin Art Museum. She enjoyed collecting Santos and Retablos from around the world.
She was predeceased by her parents, sister MaryJane Bahan Collins, and her brother Michael Bahan.
Her two children survive Ann; Julia Roche Walker and Michael Bahan Roche, her son-in-law, Jay Walker, and her only grandchild, Lindsay Walker, her sister Joan Sharpe and husband Lindsay and brother-in-law Sonny Collins. As well as Nieces: Jenny Hassibi and her husband Sami Hassibi, Joan Wyatt and her husband Richie Wyatt, Stephanie McMaretty and her husband Mark, Anna King and her husband Justin, and Courtney Schlessiger and her husband Matt. Her Nephews: Taylor Collins and his wife Cynthia Collins, Harris Collins, and Michael Bahan.
The family wants to thank Olaya Aquilar, Lisa McDonald, Sylvia Flores, Harisha Moore, Eusebia Moreno, and Elka Tesis for lovingly caring for Ann for many years.
A Celebration of Life for Ann will be held Tuesday, January 7th from 1-3pm at Weed Corley Fish Funeral Home.
