Katherine Larson Sakewitz

Katherine was born February 1, 1926, baptized April 13, 1926 and was confirmed at New Sweden Lutheran Church July 16, 1939. She attended Kimbro County School and graduated from Elgin High School in 1942. She attended Texas Lutheran Junior College and sang in the a cappella choir. Katherine married Milburn Sakewitz (Sonny) on June 27, 1947 at New Sweden Lutheran Church she was blessed with two children, Brenda and Mike. Millburn Sakewitz passed away May 10, 1975. Katherine retired after working thirty-two years for the Texas State Teachers Association as a stenographer/secretary.

Katherine lived in the Austin area for many years. She and her family became members of Faith Lutheran Church in 1958. In recent years, she was active in the Friendship Club, Happy Tuesday Club and the Lydia Circle and helping with the Faith Herald in the church office.

Katherine is preceded in death by her parents, Lars and Mary Larson, her husband of 28 years Milburn Sakewitz, her son, Michael Sakewitz, and she was the last of 11 brothers and sisters.

Katherine is survived by her daughter Brenda Sakewitz and Howard Lawrence, her two precious granddaughters, Samantha and Kristina Sakewitz and many family members and friends.

The family would like to thank all of Katherine’s doctors and the staff at Brookdale Northwest Hills.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at Faith Lutheran Church, 6600 Woodrow Avenue, Austin, Texas 78757.
