I can’t believe it’s been 10 years. I think about Katie often and hold her close to my heart. I’m sure the pain is still so fresh even after all this time, but I pray God has somehow softened the ache for you a bit. ❤️

To Our Dear Katie,

It was a year ago today that you were taken from us and given up to the Lord our God.  While he gained another angel, we were left with a void in our hearts that will always resist being filled.  I can't help but think of you when I step onto a Colorado hiking trail and remember how relentlessly you climbed those 14,000 foot peaks with me.  I'll never forget the time you were waiting for Rachel and me at the top.  Gone was any notion that I may have had that you preferred to spend time in a mall instead of outdoors on a mountain.  Katie, you are missed so much.  Know that your family will support each other and try to honor you with our thoughts and deeds until we see you again.  I have no doubt that you will be with us on our next adventure in the mountains.

Clark and Beth, my heart still aches for you and your family. What a tragedy to endure. She was called home too soon. Rest assured she was loved by you, Beth and your family. My heart breaks for your family during this devastating time. Katie was a bright light in this world. She and my daughter were in school together from elementary to high school and graduated from McNeil together. I taught her during middle school. She had a kind heart and a joy about her that made her stand out.
