Kathryn Mary Sundbeck

Kathryn Mary Sundbeck, age 78, of Round Rock passed away on Wednesday September 15, 2010. She was born on September 12, 1932 in Fredericksburg, Texas. She was delivered by her grandmother Amalia Goehman Schmidt in her home

She was raised in Austin and Manor attending St Mary’s Catholic School and Manor High School. Kathryn participated in volleyball in High School. She always looked forward to the annual gathering of graduates from that era and keeping up with old friends. Kathryn enjoyed the out of doors; joining her husband Bennie fishing, hunting and gardening. They travelled together throughout Texas after retirement. Kathryn was always very good with numbers and puzzles. Kathryn and Arvid Bennie Sundbeck were married in 1952. She kept books for several companies throughout her career, including their air conditioning business. Kathryn enjoyed learning new things. She took organ lessons, in her 40’s, and enjoyed playing at home. She helped to organize activities from fish fries to ‘family night’ socials for family, friends, and her church.Kathryn was a past active member of Crestview United Methodist Church in Austin and later First Methodist Church in Round Rock. She was active in the PTA and in Girl Scouting. Kathryn enjoyed hiking, camping, and bird watching. Kathryn especially enjoyed being with her family. She rarely missed any activity of her grandchildren. She was there for the school plays, piano recitals, dance recitals, as well as the baseball and football games. Kathryn enjoyed their enthusiasm and loved discussing their activities. She was always a good listener and a very skillful domino player. Kathryn was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Mary Gail Sundbeck; her parents, Felix Joseph Danz and Ruby Antonio Schmidt Danz; her husband, Arvid Bennie Sundbeck Jr; and brothers, Felix Edwin Danz and Arthur Alolph Danz. Kathryn is survived by daughter, Karen Melissa “Missy” Sundbeck Moore and her husband, Paul Stephen Moore of Austin; grandchildren, Stephen Russell Moore and Melody Melissa Moore of Austin; sister, Ruth Mae Danz Anderson of Georgetown, sister, Genevieve Laura Danz Hepler of Greensboro, NC, JoAnn Danz Baldridge and her husband, Don of Moscow, Idaho; and her brother, Robert Walter Danz Sr. of Bastrop; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Honoring Kathryn as pallbearers are her grandson, Stephen Moore; nephew, James Anderson; great nephews, Jim Anderson and Albert (Chip) McGill III and nephews, Joe Danz and Harold Menefee. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o’clock in the afternoon until eight o’clock in the evening on Friday, the 17th of September at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar. The Funeral Service is to be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Saturday, the 18th of September in the Colonial Chapel of Cook-Walden Funeral Home.
