Kathy was very wonderful person I loved her at the time that we were together and we had a wonderful son Aaron Johnston and he grew up and we all grew up and there was a lot of good times and where some bad but rest in peace Kathy

Kathy was a kind genuine human being. I will remember and cherish our conversations and laughs. She loved her boys and was grateful for the joyous memories in her life.  I am thankful to have known her in the way I did and think the world needs more people like Kathy. 
May she Rest In Peace and may her family find comfort in the days to come. 

To the Family of Kathy,  I send my deepest condolences and sympathy. This is a shock to read of her passing. I knew Kathy for about 2-3 years she worked at Travis County in FMD. She was the librarian / receptionist. 
 When I first started she made me feel so welcome, her smile and her beautiful soul and kindness was what drew me to her.  I knew I could go to her with any questions I had and she informed me on how things rolled in the department. We had many lunches together. And a few times, I drove her home when her car was in the shop. She was always talking about her sons. And her love of them both. She talked of many vacations and showed me a lot of photos from trips down in Galveston.  Her favorite place to go.  And when they took a wonderful trip to Disney.  Her belief in the Lord Jesus was also a Blessing during a time when I had a close family member pass away.  We prayed together.  After she left we stayed in touch through FB.  I hadn't heard from her in about 2 years. But I just figured she was busy with her life and family. 
 I'm out of state now and not able to attend her funeral and service, but if I was there, it would be my honor to be there.
 Rest In Peace Dear Sweet Kathy. I'll never forget you.

I worked with Kathy for a number of years at the Health Department.  She was a very kind and bright woman.  My thoughts and prayers are with her family.  God bless.

I am in shock at the death of my childhood friend! Kathy and I start first grade together and graduate from McCallum High School Class of 1978. 
I’ve stayed in touch with Kathy through the years after I moved to New York. We would get together occasionally when I would come to Austin.  
 Saw her at our 40th high school reunion. We talked and even got a dance in!  I’ve always admired how she stayed positive through all her struggles.  
I can’t imagine a world without Kathy! 
I will miss my friend! 

I met Kathy 32 years ago when she was my son’s Sunday school teacher, and he was 2. For years afterward I would see her at church and she never failed to ask about him as we stood talking. Later we connected on Facebook and we commiserated and prayed for each other over life’s trials. Always encouraging, that was Kathy. She found the bright side of every situation, it seemed. I will miss bout conversations greatly. 

My prayer's and thoughts go out to the family of Kathy.  I have known Kathy every since we were young girls. I was close friends with her sister Mary and I would go to her home to play and have sleepovers. And of course Kathy and Vanessa were there to as they all 3 shared a bedroom together.  Kathy was such a sweetheart but she could be annoying too as any younger sister could be speaking from my own experience with having younger siblings myself. But we had alot of good times laughing, playing games, telling scary stories. As we got older though I never really saw Kathy again until one day she was standing out on the curb at the Texas Department of Health on 42nd Street where I had worked for awhile, so  I walked up to her and started talking and she was telling me about her kids and how long she had been working at TDH.  We later became friends on Facebook and we would message each other.  She took an early retirement because of health issues and she was thinking about moving to Killeen because it was cheaper and she would be closer to her older son.  I'm just still in shock that she is no longer here on Earth and I know her family and especially her son's miss her but I know that she is no longer suffering and in pain anymore. And she is now in heaven with her Mom, Dad and other family members having a good time and telling old stories of the past. RIP Kathy until we see each other again one day.

My thoughts and prayers are with Kathy's family and son's during this difficult time of loss, but we can rejoice in knowing that she now has a perfect body and is now with a our Heavenly Father resting in the arms of Jesus.  Although Kathy had a hard life, she always seemed to bless me with her smile and quips when I would see her.  I also worked for the same employer, Department of State Health Services, as she did for two or three years.  She loved her family and loved the Lord.  The pic I have attached is from a birthday dinner party that my good friend, Brian Kistler, put together for her back on August 16th of 2018 at the Hills Cafe on South Congress Ave. in Austin that closed shortly after her birthday.  As you can see, she was surrounded by many friends that she had blessed mainly through her church, Hyde Park Baptist, and elsewhere.  We will miss you, Kathy, but I'm looking forward to seeing you again in Heaven!

Had many wonderful years and some bad, but I love being apart of your world.  As for having a wonderful son Joshua.

To the Shooter/Hurta Families, My deepest sympathy in the unexpected loss of your Mom, Sister, Aunt, and friend!  May God comfort you all in your time of sorrow!  Kathy was a sweet soul and will be deeply missed.  She is in the arms of her Savior!  May that bring you peace in your waves of grief.
