

Eddie passed away unexpectedly on March 25, 2010 at his home in Austin, Texas at the age of 46. He was born on August 12, 1963 in Fort Ord, California. Eddie graduated from Junction City Kansas High School in 1981. He moved to Texas in 1986 after service to his country in the US Navy. Eddie was a very intelligent, loving man, with a big heart who enjoyed life and the people he shared it with. He loved sharing all his passions with everyone around him, especially his love for the Washington Redskins, LA Lakers, Nascar driver Denny Hamlin, music, animals, and many, many other interests. Eddie was preceded in death by his mother, Mable Louise Johnson and stepfather, Lester Ray Johnson, Sr. Eddie leaves behind a very large loving family, including his father Cyril Gress; daughters Caryl Hanson-Johnson and Leslie Hanson-Johnson; fiancé Tracy Woodard and children Kirsten Woodard and Spencer Giebenrath; brother Bob Gress; sisters Lelani VanGundy and spouse Frank VanGundy, Vicki MacLeod, Kathleen Poulter and partner James Inman, Jr.; nieces Tammy VanGundy and Rachael Gress; nephews Scott VanGundy and partner Linda Vrajich and son Jacob Vrajich, Shawn Gress, Ben Johnson, and Andrew Poulter; and great-niece Jordan Watts. He will be deeply missed by all his family, extended family, and a vast number of friends. A memorial and celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 3, 2010 at 1404 Sharps Road, Austin, TX 78734.
