

Kerry William Hartless, age 62, of The Hills of Lakeway, was born in Baytown, Texas July 17, 1950 to the late Wesley Leo and Berna Sales Hartless. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1968 where he played for the Gander Varsity football team. He went on to obtain a Bachelors Degree in Business from the University of Houston, and later a Masters in Business Administration. After fighting illness with incredible bravery, he passed away in an Austin hospital on June 28, 2013.
Kerry was a beloved husband to his wife of 31 years, Rebecca. He was also an admired father, grandfather, brother, and friend with an intelligent mind and a quick wit. His zest for life and his adventurous spirit were obvious. He was an avid pilot and a master at water skiing and bow hunting. Kerry also loved sailing, surfing, fishing, snow skiing, sky diving, cooking, and playing guitar. He was such a voracious reader it was hard to find a book he hadn't read. He treasured being called "Pop Pop" by his two grandsons and was their best playmate when it came to passing down his love of the great outdoors.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Heather Hartless Buchanan, her husband Jeff, and his two adoring grandsons, Chip and Blake Buchanan of Lufkin; sister Sheryl McConathy and her husband Mark of Baytown; sister Susan Brewer and her husband Gene of Baytown; in-laws Charles and Zenia Kitowski of Austin; brother-in-law Chuck Kitowski and wife Theresa of Katy; brother-in-law Jeff Kitowski and wife Birgit of Austin; sister-in-law Vivian Powers and husband Steve of Brookshire; brother-in-law Roger Kitowski and wife Nan of Austin; sister-in-law Beth Di Iorio and husband Pat of Katy; sister-in-law Gail Kitowski and partner Scott Petersen of Austin; sister-in-law Mary Allison and husband Art of Austin; niece Shannon Pogue and husband Roger of New Caney; niece Sara McConathy of Houston; niece Amy McConathy of Redding, CA; nephew Matthew Grimes and his wife Ellie of Yuma, AZ; nephew Adam Brewer of Baytown; niece Lisa Busker and husband Darren of Houston; niece Theresa Byers and husband Robbie of Waller; nephew Jason Powers and wife Courtney of Sealy; niece Lauren Fenhaus and husband Josh of Fayetteville; nephew Louis Landry of Austin; nephew Rick Landry of Austin; nephew Nicholas Di Iorio of Denver, CO; nieces Maddie and Amanda Allison of Austin; 10 great nieces and nephews; and lifelong friends Robbie Bennett of Denver, CO, Doug Wagner of Houston, Greg Vornkauhl of Bellville, and Jack Mershon of Houston.
He is preceded in death by his parents; grandmother Evelyn DePhillipi of Katy; nephew Randall Hinchliffe of Austin; nephew Charles "Trey" Kitowski, III of Katy; cousin Chris Shepherd of Houston, and close friend Jim Fayle of Baytown.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate his life on Friday, July 12th at 1pm at Emmaus Catholic Church in Lakeway with a reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall. Memorials may be sent to the Kidney Foundation.
