

Kirk Douglas Owens was born to Millie Beatrice Owens on August 14, 1953, at Fleming Hospital in Elgin, Texas. He was raised by his stepfather, Willie Collins and grew up on the East side of Austin in the Blackland community.
Kirk professed a hope in Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in Elgin, Texas under the leadership of Reverend R. A. Westbrook.
Kirk attended Austin Independent School District and completed his education after enlisting in the United States Air Force on February 21, 1973. He finished basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas and later completed training as an Aircraft Maintenance Specialist. Kirk completed his military tour of duty on March 3, 1977.
Kirk worked for many years as a Long-Haul Truck Driver. Upon retiring, Kirk started his own business of designing and selling T-Shirts. Kirk later went to ITT Technical school where he learned to build computers.
Kirk enjoyed spending leisure time on the lake fishing with friends. He had a passion for cooking and had excellent culinary skills. He often baked pound cakes and a couple of times burned up the motor in two of his sister’s hand mixers.
Kirk entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at 5:10 PM. He is preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents, mother, Millie Collins, stepfather, Willie Collins, and aunt, Ardella Bonner.
Kirk leaves to cherish his memories, one daughter, Kernetta Denae Owens of Manor, Texas, two sisters, Etta Lynnette Collins of Austin Texas, and Wanda Tarver Davis (Melvin) of Manor Texas, a special friend, Flora Fay of Austin Texas, one nephew, Markeith Davis (Stephanie), one great nephew, Kennedy Brooks Davis all of Keller, Texas, Aunt Margaret Ann Collins Moore and a host of relatives and friends.
