We recently said goodbye to one of the last great Texans, he was taken too early but lived three lifetimes in the time he had. To those of us lucky enough to be close to him, we know Larry as a modern day Augustus McCrae. He epitomized a West Texas gentleman, always cordial to strangers, respectful to elders, and kind to animals; he would stick up for those who couldn't stick up for themselves and not tolerate those who took advantage of others. He lived an amazing life, served his country and state, and was a loyal friend, devoted husband, and excellent father. He made the world better a place. We will always love him, miss him and thank him for everything he gave us. He was one of the good ones.
He is survived by his wife Betty; son, Salmeron, and daughter-in-law Brittany, and numerous family members. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you make a donation to Austin Pets Alive at http://tinyurl.com/LarryDonBarnes
