Laura Ann Miller

Laura was born on October 12, 1930, in Chriseman, Texas to Bobby Lee Varner and Vernie Grace Arnold Varner. She was one of five girls. Laura left home to go to Beauty School in Austin, Texas. She met the love of her life, Edwin B. Miller. They were married on November 1, 1952 and shared 62 years of marriage. They were blessed with one Daughter and three grandchildren.

Laura was always very involved at her church whether it be teaching children in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School or checking out a book to someone in the Library. She served as a Deacon’s Wife and on the Hospitality committee at the First Baptist Church of Bastrop. Laura was a Beautician for 42 years and owned Laura’s Beauty Shop for 30 plus years. However, her greatest passions were her God, her family and her church.

Laura was predeceased by her parents and a sister Betty Scott. She is survived by her loving husband Edwin B. Miller, her daughter and son-in-law Michelle and Edward Neal, Jr. and three very cherished grandchildren, Andrew, Austin and Amanda. Laura is also survived by sisters Ethel Senn, Bobbie Shay, Mary Jo Marak and Gene Marak(brother-in-law) as well as her deceased sister’s husband Dicky Scott.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 5:30 until 7:30 in the evening, on Friday, the 14th of February 2014, at First Baptist Church, 1201 Water Street, Bastrop, Texas.

A Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 in the afternoon on Saturday, the 15th of February 2014, at First Baptist Church, 1201 Water Street, Bastrop, Texas. Interment will follow in Chriseman Cemetery, Chriseman, Texas under the direction of Cook-Walden Funeral Home.
