

Laura Fay Toombs Laura Fay Toombs, a resident of Austin since 1984, formerly of Wichita Falls, Texas, passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2005. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Austin. During her many years in Wichita Falls she was a member of The Floral Heights Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and the Intermediate Choir. She was also a faithful member of the Adult Sanctuary Choir. In addition to her Church activities she devoted her time to the Wichita Falls Womens Forum and a great many other civic endeavors including Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile. Her time as President of the Wichita Falls Womens Golf Association was so outstanding that she was honored with a golf tournament in her name. She was very proud to be a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International. When her husband, Alton Toombs, retired they moved to Austin to be closer to her family. Anne and Homer Garrison and her grandchildren, Tiffany and Monroe. It was not long before she had gained a reputation as an outstanding golfer and bridge player at the Onion Creek Country Club. Her many golf and bridge friends will remember her well for her warm smile and faithful friendship. She is survived by her husband Alton Toombs, her daughter Anne Garrison and her husband, Homer Garrison, III, two grandchildren, Tiffany Parker and her husband Richard Parker of Longview, Texas, Monroe Garrison and his wife Alicia of Houston, Texas and three great grandsons, Richard Parker of Longview, Thomas Garrison and Charles Garrison of Houston. Funeral services will be held at Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26, 2005. Interment will follow at Austin Memorial Park.
