

Lawrence “Larry” Washington was born on October 2, 1937. As the eldest child from the union of the late Albert “Shorty” and Molly (Hurd) Washington in Wetumpka, AL. His family relocated to Massillon, Ohio where he accepted Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at St. James AME Zion Church at an early age. Years later he rededicated his life to Christ in 2017.
While growing up he made a positive mark by becoming a member of the Junior National Guard, and he also reigned supreme as a superstar athlete playing football, track, basketball, and baseball for the “Mighty Tigers” at Massillon’s Washington High School. After completion of his formal education, he joined the United States Air Force, and began to embark on new adventures as a Missile Command Technician, Photo Processing Technician and Vehicle Operator Dispatcher. After retiring from the Air Force in 1986, Larry started working at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and later retired in 2005. As a strong dedicated provider, he spent his free time fishing, watching movies, dancing, cooking/BBQ, hunting, camping, master crafting and spending time with family and friends.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Robert Washington,and wife Pamela Washington.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Toni Odemokpa (Dayton, Ohio), Khayyam Washington, Zabrina Washington, and Jerel Washington (all of Austin, Texas), and his grandchildren Brittany Williams (Arlington, TX), D’Marques Hillsman (Austin, TX), Aaron Davis and William Bell (Dayton, OH) and Zabria Hillsman (Austin, TX). one sister, Gaylin Phillip-Johnson (Joshua) in addition to a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, Special family Jason Heard. neighbors, and a host of military/government comrades.
