It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dad, whose soul graced this world with kindness, wisdom, and an unwavering spirit.
He is preceded in death by his parents Antonio Castillo and Ascension M Castillo; brothers Antonio Castillo Jr, Manuel Castillo, Joe Castillo; sisters Mary Montez, Lucy Gutierrez, Helen Castillo and sons Rufus Castillo, Tony Castillo, and Joseph Castillo.
He is survived by his wife Carmen M Castillo; brother Pete Castillo; his children- Lee Castillo Jr (Mary Alice), Jimmy Castillo, Dorothy Castillo, Gilbert Castillo, Tina Hernandez (Thomas), Mary Davis, Carol Castillo, Karen Castillo, Elizabeth Ramirez (Felix). He had numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great- great grandchildren, nieces and nephews which are too numerous to name them all.
He served during WWII in the US Army and was honorably discharged with the Victory Medal in 1947.
He was a devoted Catholic and was a faithful servant for many years at Christo Rey Catholic Church.
He was a painter by trade and painted many homes and businesses throughout the City of Austin and retired from Texas Instruments where he played a key role in the upkeep of that facility.
He played many sports- baseball, bowling and his love, golfing.
He was the vice-president of the IOF Forster’s and had a huge community of friends.
He would play his accordion and drink Miller Lite with friends and family. The heart of his life was his love for his family and friends. There are so many memories of shared holidays and celebrations, whispered confidence and gentle silences. To know Lee was to know acceptance, understanding, and unconditional love. His home was a haven, a place where all were welcomed, and every guest was treated as family. He was a true Austinite and an icon on East Cesar Chavez Street.
Though words cannot describe or honor a life that touched so many. His life was filled with grace and mercy. He now lives in the house of the Lord forever. And we look forward to seeing him again.
He lived by these simple tenets- work hard, lend a hand where you can, and thank God for your blessings.
We would like to give thanks to Enhabit Hospice and their staff for their loving care of dad.
