Lesley Shawn Turner

She grew up in Austin, Texas, and attended Murchison Junior High School, Anderson High School, and Hyde Park Baptist High School, graduating in 1981. She went on to earn her degree from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth in 1985, where she was a proud member of Delta Gamma Sorority. After college, Shawn returned to Austin and worked as a project manager for Dell and later for Motorola.

To those who knew her best, Shawn will always be remembered for her gentle spirit, kind heart, and unwavering compassion. Through her mother's eyes, Shawn was a beautiful daughter, blessed by God with a radiant smile and a beautiful complexion. She was genuine, generous, loving, and always willing to stand up for any person or animal that was being mistreated.

Her greatest passions were animals and art. Throughout her life she shared her home with her beloved cocker spaniels and devoted countless hours volunteering with Cocker Spaniel Rescue organizations in Austin and San Antonio. Shawn combined those two passions by creating commissioned pet portraits.

For nearly eleven years, Shawn faced Early-Onset Alzheimer's disease with quiet courage and dignity. While the disease gradually took much from her, it never diminished the love that surrounded her or the impact she had on those who knew her.

On July 21st, 2026, Shawn completed her earthly race. We find peace in knowing that Jesus was holding her hand as He welcomed her into His eternal home, where she now lives free from pain and whole again.

She was preceded in death by her father, Mike Turner Sr.; her grandparents, B.L. and Billie Turner, Joe Sykes, and Millie and Harvey Hurley; and her uncles, Richard Sykes, Bozzy Turner, and Randy Turner.

She is survived by her loving mother, Sharon Kay Sykes; her brother, Michael Turner, and his wife, Holly Turner, whose love and care surrounded Shawn throughout her life's journey. She is also survived by many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Texas Alzheimer's Association in Shawn's honor.
