Leslie Gayle Lloyd (Missy) left this world to soak up the sun on the open waters of heaven on May 23rd, 2024. Born to Jane Ann and Franklin Glen Abell on April 10, 1962, in Lubbock, Texas, Leslie joined her two older sisters Leigh Ann and Lynda Jann as the youngest of three beautiful girls. Even at a young age, it was clear to all who knew her that her adventurous spirit was fueled by curiosity and an unwavering thirst for a challenge.
Leslie grew up in Austin, Texas and after attending Lanier High School, Leslie enrolled and graduated from Armstrong McCall Beauty College. She had a long 30-year career as a proficient hair stylist and loved all things beauty. She was a proud mother of her two sons, Garrett Blake Purcell and Christopher Kai Jensen.
Leslie met her long-time spouse, Victor Thompson, while cutting his hair, 23 years ago. They discovered a similar draw to nature and the love of the water. In the years of Leslie’s illness, Victor was unwavering in his love and vigilant with her care and support.
Leslie was preceded in death by her oldest son, Garrett Blake Purcell; her parents, Franklin and Jane Abell; and her oldest sister, Leigh Ann Urban. She leaves behind her loving spouse of 23 years, Victor Thompson; her youngest son, Christopher Kai Jensen (Lilly); and two beautiful grandchildren, Harper and Ezra Jensen, of whom she was so very proud; and her loving sister Lynda Jann Evans. Leslie was part of a large family and left two half-sisters, Renee and Lauren, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, in-laws, and many friends. Leslie prioritized finding joy in life to share it with others. Her family asks that you do the same – go out and do something that brings real joy and share it with those you love dearly.
Leslie couldn’t have known that her last post, four days before her passing would be her last, but it would be poetic, nonetheless. “I'm going home sweet home this week sometime. I've been in survival mode for 2 years and don't plan on backing down or giving up. If you know me, then you know this. Right now, all I need is love, sunshine, my family and friends, with double helpings of prayers. Sending my love to all.”
