Many Nieces, Nephews and Friends.
Les was a Great Person, wonderful Husband, Father, Father-in-Law and Friend to all who knew him. He kept all of us entertained by his multiple stories and telling us of the adventures of his life both as a child and young adult. He will be missed more than can be imagined.
He led a full and interesting life from enlisting in the Army in July 1947 with the help of his brother who convinced him they should enlist together, once he was discharged from the Navy in 1947. He was a Navy man at heart where he operated an Amphibious Landing Craft that dropped soldiers off and picked them up at combat zones. He was proud to have qualified as a Naval Sharp Shooter, an award not earned by many.
He was active in the VFW for many years where he proudly assisted any service man in need. Les worked for TXI ready mix for 17 years at which time he retired to take care of his then wife Arlene. After the death of Arlene, he became an avid BallRoom Dancer, where he met the love of his life Pat. The last 13 years of his life he danced and laughed and enjoyed every minute he could with Family and friends.
We will all miss him and will always carry fond memories in our hearts.
He was preceeded in death by his parents John and Blanch Johannessen, wife Vina Arlene Cox Johannessen, son Leslie Johannessen, Grandson Leslie Johannessen, Brothers Alvin, Bill and Joe Johannessen.
