Lester Earl Simmon Sr. was born to Johnny Tinnon and Adlean Simmons. Lester attended school in the Austin Independent School District. After graduating from high school, he joined the U.S. Army in 1978. Lester accepted Christ at an early age at First Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Edwin Brown. He was a very willing worker in the church. He sang in the junior and senior choirs. He also sang in the male chorus and worked on the usher board until his health failed. Lester was preceded in death by: his paternal and maternal grandparents, his father, and two sisters. He leaves to cherish his memories: wife, Kitty Simmons; mother and stepfather, Adlean Swan (Lorenza); two sons, Lester Jr. and Wesley; two daughters, Andrea Brown and Ashley Simmons; five brothers, Larry Tinnon, Charles (Debra), John (Linda), Willie (Barbara), and James (Pat) Simmons; three sisters, Dorothy Bailey (Harold), Everly Harris, and Rosie Simmons (Ron); one uncle, Aubery Headen; two aunts, Dorothy Ramey and Mary Corzine; six grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
