
We are sorry to hear of your loss.  We knew Lillian through Natalie  and as our grandchildren's "Sugar".   The times we had the opportunity to be with her were mainly at celebrations for the children.  From these times we could see she was a very special person.  Our regret is we did not get to know her better.  
We will remember Lilllian and her family in our prayers.

As a neighbor of Maxine Henley I was introduced to Lillian.  We spent many fun times in Vegas.  Lillian and Maxine were a HOOT together and lots of fun to be around.  All my family-Jay and Clifton as well as by brother Robert "Bob" Smith and sister Phyllis Elliott enjoyed her company.

We will miss this wonderful wonderful loving person.

Lillian was my next door neighbor and yes she did have a happy, cheerful personality. One day she tapped on my door as she laughingly told me that my daughter, Ann had put mud pies all over her car. The four year old culprit was hiding under the dining room table in plain sight. I asked Ann if she ever wanted to feel this bad again and she said never. Ann, with some help, then tried to remove the mud pies.

Catherine Ann Richards, Lillian's daughter, was Ann's babysitter many times.

We enjoyed them for several years as neighbors and give our sincerest sympathy to Lillian's family.

Lillian was truly a remarkable woman.  I originally knew her from working together at the State Comptroller's Office.  She and Maxine Henley were quite a team.  I always wanted to grow up to be as smart as them and as confident.  And then of course I came to know Cecelia Adair professionally and as a friend and she is a chip off the old block.  Smart, full of integrity and someone you can always count on.  Just like her mother.  Lillian had a long life and a good life.  I will never forget her and all that she brougt to my life.

I worked with Lillian for many years.  She was so smart and so professional, she made her job look easy, which it was not.  We shared a birthday which was always great fun.  I loved her wit and charm.  She will be greatly missed.  Ellen Baker



Lillian and I went through losing all but us of our immediate family but we always found we had memories of the good fun times.  I taught her how to drive and we had her four daughters and my three daughters, all under the age of ten.  That was probably the most fun we ever had.  The story is a little too long to go into.  I loved her dearly and I can't begin to tell you how much I will miss her.



I was blessed to have Lillian as a friend and next-door neighbor for so many years.  When my dad and I were renovating my house, I could not have asked for a better "sheppard" to look after the two of us.  She was always offering a glass of iced tea or even a "cold one" if we were so inclined to take a break on her front porch.  She was definitely one of God's earthly angels.  I will be forever grateful for her love, kindness, and friendship.  Knowing Lillian made me a better person.  Continue to let her "light" shine in each of your hearts and keep her memories alive.

Here's a note I received from Aunt Lillian back in June...a response to an online birthday card.  She was so very special.

That is the most unique birthday card I have ever recieved. I loved it. Thank you so much. Your Mother brought me a yellow hibiscus yesterday and planted it herself. My girls were standing by her begging her to let them dig that hole. As Linda said " I wasn't raised to stand by while a 90 year old aunt digs a hole." I guess you know how hard headed your Mom is-----after all she is a Richards. She is a jewel.

Was so sorry to read about the loss of your wonderfully, sweet mother, Lillian.  I am the daughter of SWTSTC long-time friends of both your dad, BC (who was my doctor in Austin) and your mother.  The Vaughns and Richards go way, way back ~~ and I'll never forget that your mom & dad married on my parents' wedding anniversary.  There was a very close connection of the long, long-ago friends from San Marcos ~~ Vaughns (Warrick, Floreine, John Dee & Jane), the Richards,  the Jobsons, etc., and I believe your mother is the last of that generation.  

Cherish the memories always that you four have of your parents ~~ they were some of the best.  God bless each of you, and again, I am so sad for your loss.

Aunt Grace was at every important event in my family, including my wedding and my daughter's wedding.

One of my favorite childhood memories was the conch shell that was in the bathroom on Betty Jo Dr.  I would sneak in there and listen to the ocean.  Well knowing that I could be in big trouble if I was caught.  It was so worth it!  Aunt Grace knew I was in there and never called me out.  Last visit to Austin, she gave me that conch shell.  God Bless You, my sweet aunt.  I will miss you.
