Lillian Hilda Stein

Lillian Hilda Schinske Stein passed away on April 10, 2021 in Austin, Texas at the age of 100. She was born March 23, 1921 in Long Prairie, Minnesota of Russian immigrant parents. She was baptized and confirmed in Trinity Lutheran Church in Long Prairie. Lillian served in the Pacific with the U. S. Navy as a nurse during World War II. In 1948 she married Walter L. Stein in Corpus Christi, Texas. She moved her family frequently in the U. S. as dictated by her husband’s Naval career. In 1958 they moved to Austin and joined Redeemer Lutheran Church. Throughout her life, Lillian participated in many of its activities.

Lillian is survived by her son Howard and wife Virginia of Murphy, Texas; daughter Janet and husband James of Nolanville, Texas; son Paul and wife Ruth of Granbury, Texas; six grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the nurses, doctors, technicians, and staff of Buckner Campbell Center and Hospice Austin. Their attentive care made possible the activity and happiness of her last few months.

Lillian will be laid to rest with her husband Walter at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas, on Friday May 7, 2021 at 2:00 PM.
