Lois Larson Davis passed away peacefully on July 2, 2024. She was born on November 11, 1929 in Houston, Texas to Axel Julius Larson and Pauline Meiners Larson. She grew up in Houston and graduated there from Lamar High School. She attended the University of Texas and graduated in 1949 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy.
While attending the University of Texas, she met her future husband, Ora M. Davis, Jr. They were married in 1948, resided in Austin and were married 34 years, until Ora’s passing in 1983. In addition to Ora, she was preceded in death by her parents.
Lois was a practicing Pharmacist in the Austin area at various businesses for 50+ years. During her busy professional life, she found time to rear three children, all of whom survive her and live in the Austin area. Her eldest, Elaine, is married to Rex Hunt. Gail, the middle child, is married to Franklin Tuttle II. Tom, her third, is married to Ann Grant Davis. Lois will be greatly missed by her children, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
During her lifetime, Lois was a member of several social and spiritual organizations. She joined Ruh Neb Temple No. 64 in 1949 and was an active 74 year member of Daughters of the Nile, until a recent decline in health. She served as Queen of Ruh Neb Temple in 1981. She had also been an active member of the Austin Women’s Club. She was a longtime member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, having volunteered in different capacities over the years.
Funeral services will be at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N. Lamar, Austin, Texas. The celebrant will be Reverend Angela Cortinas, of St. David’s Episcopal Church. Visitation will be Thursday, July 11, from 10:00-11:00, with the funeral service to follow at 11:00. Interment will follow immediately at Austin Memorial Park on Hancock Drive.
