

Lois Lunsford, a resident of Buckner Villas Retirement Community in Austin, went home to be with Jesus on August 17, 2006. Lois was born the oldest child of I.W. and Naomi Hester Sherman Parker in Lexington, Texas on September 11, 1919. She was a graduate of Texas Womens University, and received her Master of Library Science degree from the University of Texas. Lois spent her professional career as a school librarian; first in Luling, followed by a brief time at Texas A & M University, and then for many years at Victoria College. Lois was preceded in death by her parents for whom she provided the loving care of a devoted daughter. She was also preceded in death by her first husband W.C. Rowland, and her precious granddaughter Amy Lunsford. She is survived by her husband of thirty-two years Rev. J.M. Lunsford. When Lois and Jess married in March of 1974 she became Mimi to his children and grandchildren. Mimi has blessed the Lunsford family with her spiritual depth, her gracious charm, her intelligent wit, and her unwavering kindness and hospitality. She will be dearly missed by her step-sons Bob Lunsford of Farmington, New Mexico; Jim Lunsford of Dallas; Bill Lunsford of Austin; and her step-daughter and son-in-law Lil and Clif Abshier of Bishop, Texas. Mimi has been a source of joy and inspiration to her five grandchildren Jesse Lunsford of Austin; Walker Lunsford of Dallas, Micah (Jennifer) Abshier of Kerrville, Jessica Abshier of Bishop and Rachel (Brian) Snyder of Abilene. She was also blessed with two great granddaughters, Taylor and Avery Abshier, whom she dearly adored. She is also survived by her sister, Eunice Parker Means, who is also a resident of Buckner Villas Retirement Community in Austin, as well as countless cousins in the Parker and Sherman families. Funeral services for Lois Lunsford will be held at the First Baptist Church in Lexington, Texas at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 20, 2006. Burial will follow at Lexington City Cemetery in Lexington, Texas. In lieu of flowers, friends are encouraged to send memorial gifts to The South Texas Childrens Home, P.O.
