

Lonnie had to drop out of school in the fifth grade to take care of the family farm after his father passed away. In 1936, Lonnie married Laura Satterwhite, and they were married for 71 years until her death. Lonnie spent his younger years working at dairies around the Austin area. He later went to work as a mechanic for John Deere. He then opened his own Auto Repair business at his home on Goodwin Avenue. Later he went to work as a mechanic for the City of Austin. He retired from the city in 1984 as a supervisor for Fleet Services.
He is survived by his son, John “Kenny” Marcrum and wife Judy, four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Friends and Family are invited to a visitation to be held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 15, 2013, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Blvd., Austin. A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 16, 2013 at Live Oak Cemetery, which is located off of FM 1626 and Manchaca Road in Austin.
