Born Loreine Thomas on September 1, 1927and passing peacefully from this life on January 18, 2021, Loreine is survived by her daughter and son-n-law, Sandy and Robert St.Romain; grandsons, Kris Maier and Robert St.Romain Jr.; longtime friends John and Dee Hodnett; Betty Welch of Arkansas; Ms. Lupe Garcia of Humble, Texas; Dan Cohn of Louisiana; caregivers, Melissa Norsworthy and Yvonne Morris; son and daughter-n-law, Barry and Sally Smith; and grandsons, Zachery and Spencer Smith.
Loreine was preceded in death by the true love of her life, husband Alfred (Smitty) Smith. Also preceding her in death are son, Gary Smith and best friend, Inez Douglas.
Mom loved and adored her children and her career with the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her sidekick Inez and son Gary. She relocated from Austin, Texas for Ft. Smith, Arkansas to be closer to Gary where she cherished time spent hanging out with her girlfriend, Ms. Betty. A few years later, she then relocated to Dallas, Texas to live the condo life and stay near Gary after a job opportunity required a move. Gary’s passing in November of 2015 had Loreine relocating once more. This time to Montgomery, Texas with her devoted, rescue Kirby (the dog) and Sam (the bird) to spend the remainder of her time being doted on and cared for Sandy, Robert, Kris, Roberts Jr., her caregivers and even Charlie (the cat).
It would take days to acknowledge everyone who has loved and cared about Mom in her life and especially in the past few years, so let us just take a moment and say “I Love You” to the ones we love today and every day as she would want.
May Mom rest in peace with her glass of iced wine, sitting next to Dad with his can of Schlitz.
“Love You MOM”
