

Loretta Schamber Rice Wilson peacefully passed away to be with her Savior January 22, 2013 at the age of 98. She was born July 23, 1914 in Menno, SD to George and Helen Stoller Schamber. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, Freeman, SD. She lived in San Angelo, Houston and Corpus Christi before moving to Austin, TX.
Loretta was church secretary and organist at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, Corpus Christi, TX. In Austin she was a Charter Member of Hope Lutheran Church where she made visits with the Pastor and was a faithful member of the Dorcas. In Austin she worked for Maverick Clark for 21 years. Loretta loved her job at Maverick Clark, gardening, painting and various types of needlework.
Loretta was preceded in death by first husband Del Rice, second husband Art Wilson, parents, 4 sisters - Ella Walz, Helen Dubs, Hedwig Schamber, and Lillie Schamber and 3 brothers - Ted Schamber, Edgar Schamber, and Henry Schamber.
Survivors are stepdaughter Arnette Wilson Davis, 2 brothers - Max Schamber, Menno, SD, and Elmer Schamber, Sioux Falls, SD, sister - Susan Schulz, Broken Bowen, NB and
numerous nephews and nieces.
Thanks to Our House of Central Texas, Nancy Luongo and staff, who lovingly took care of Loretta. New Century Hospice Staff for all the visits and care they gave. Thanks to the Gruetzner family and to the many drivers of Faith in Action Caregivers Northeast Austin. Special thanks to Loretta’s Hope Lutheran Church family members who helped with her moves, setting her up in the assisted living homes, prayers, visits and concerns for her the last 3 years of her life. Thanks to members of Good Sheperd Lutheran Church Cedar Park for weekly prayers and visits.
Service will be 2:00 PM January 25, 2013 at Hope Lutheran Church, 6414 North Hampton, Austin, TX with Rev. Peter Heckmann officiating.
Pallbearers are David Gruetzner, Jeffrey Gruetzner, Scott Huber, Christian Paulsel, Rev. Kenneth Schamber and Darrett Sundberg
Honorary Pallbearers are Bert Klein, Ed Lippe, Ed Reinhardt, Harold Rutz and John Zimmermann
David Thoresen, who was a longtime friend, will be organist.
