

Louis Bograd, born January12, 1910, died April 27, 2012, at the age of 102. He was born in Brooklyn, NY and moved to New Orleans with his family as a child. Lou returned to New York as an adult where he entered the retail clothing business and met the love of his life, Florence Shor. They were married in Miami, FL in 1943 while Lou was in the service. Lou returned to New Orleans in 1954 with his wife and children. He lived there until he retired to Florida for 20 glorious years.
Lou spent his last years in Austin, Texas, to be near his daughter; but, his love was New Orleans where he was a French Quarter merchant. He owned stores called The Staircase, Gentlemen’s Quarter and Ladies Quarter. Before that he was the General Manager for Rubinstein Brothers.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Bobbi Bograd Saulmon and son-in-law, Ernie Saulmon, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Florence Bograd, and his daughter, Ellen Bograd Greenberg.
Graveside services will be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning onTuesday, the 1st of May 2012, at Beth Israel Cemetery, 4321 Frenchmen Street, New Orleans, LA, under the direction of Tharp-Sontheimer Funeral Home.
