

Louise Rosalie Polasek Long was born on July 24, 1918 in Wilson County, Texas and went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 8, 2019. She was the 3rd of 8 children born to Charley and Katrina Polasek who were first generation Americans of Czech descent. She grew up on the family farm where her father also had a blacksmith shop.
During WWII Louise work at the Air Force base in San Antonio installing electronics on airplanes as a part of the war effort. She moved to Austin in the late 1940’s where her employer trained her to be a dental assistant. On April 11, 1950 she married Noble Nolan Long.
To this union two daughters were born, Linda Mae and Mary Louise. Noble and Louise were happily married for 45 years before he passed away in 1995. They enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, playing dominos and attending Czech festivals.
Louise enjoyed baking kolaches, working in her yard and volunteering for numerous organizations.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Noble; her parents, Charley and Katrina Polasek; her sister, Mary Svoboda; her brothers, August Polasek, Charlie Polasek, Paul Polasek, Johnnie Polasek and Ludwig Polasek.
Louise is survived by her two daughters, Linda Whaley and husband Kenneth and Mary Long; her two grandsons, Matthew Whaley and wife, Tapley; Stephen Whaley and wife, Christy; great-grandchildren, Caden, Tobin, Simon, Arabella, and a new great-grandson due in September; her sister, Anna Dell Kowalik; her sister-in-law, Madeline Polasek; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Sunday, April 14, 2019 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress Avenue.
Funeral Mass 10:00 am on Monday, April 15, 2019 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church with Reverend Harold Essling, CSC officiating. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
