Louree Crossfield Louree T. (Lou) Crossfield, a longtime resident of Washington, D.C., died on May 17, 2006. She moved to Austin, Texas in the late 1990s to be near her beloved sister, Inez Burch. After Inezs death in October, 2005, Louree continued to reside in Austin. She was born on January 2, 1909 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to Alfred Sidney and Anna Melissa Crossfield. She was preceded in death by her parents and four sisters; Vivian Taylor, Effie Fitzgerald, Josephine Crossfield and Inez Burch. Louree is survived by a nephew, Bill Fitzgerald, a niece, Louise Bolles, and four great-nieces and one great-nephew. She was educated as a schoolteacher at Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma and taught third grade in the Ponca City School System. In addition, for many years, Lou resided in Washington, D.C. and worked on the staff of George Washington University. She was an active member of the National City Christian Church, where she enjoyed the Hearthstone Sunday school class and the Business Womens Guild of the Christian Womens Fellowship. Family and friends who were impacted by her life will greatly miss her. The family wishes to thank her many loyal caregivers for their devotion in caring for her. A graveside burial service will take place on Saturday, May 20, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in her hometown of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts to be made to a favorite charity in Lourees name.
