Lucille passed away on February 7, 2018. She was born Mamie Lucille Seelke on August 11,1923, in Paige, Texas and was the eighth and last child of William and Ottilie Seelke.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Carlson (Maj. U.S.A.F.), son Gary Carlson, and her 5 sisters and 2 brothers. She is survived by sons Greg Carlson (Joyce), Steve Carlson, and daughter-in-law Marsha Carlson. She is also survived by grandchildren Elizabeth Juline, Bradley Carlson (Evelyn), Tiffany Weigelt (Wayne), and Amber Carlson and great-grandchildren Noah, Karina, & Luke Juline and Riley & Tripp Weigelt.
Lucille grew up on the family farm and was baptized and re-affirmed her faith in the rite of confirmation at St. John Lutheran Church in Paige. She married Robert on February 6, 1945 at the Galveston Army Air Field. As a military wife Lucille got to travel to many places, the last residing in Puerto Rico before the family settled in Austin in 1962.
After moving to Austin she worked several years at the Montgomery Ward Catalogue Department in Capital Plaza. She then worked for many years and retired from the Texas Employment Commission, Tax Department.
Lucille was an active and proud member of Messiah Lutheran Church since 1962.
The family wants to thank her caregiver Clara, Texas Home Health Hospice for their loving care, and Pastor Bridget Thien and Pastor David Melber for providing to Lucille’s religious and spiritual needs.
Visitation will be held from 2:00-5:00pm on Sunday, February 18th at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Blvd, Austin, Texas.
Funeral service will be held Monday, February 19th at 10:00am at Messiah Lutheran Church, 5701 Cameron Road, Austin, Texas. Interment will follow at St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery, FM2104 Paige Texas.
