

Lucretia "Rene" Elizabeth Bible Byars passed away at her home in Austin, Texas on July 23, 2009. She went to be with the Lord, having accepted him at the age of 10 and baptized in the Baptist Church. Rene was born on August 4, 1941 in San Antonio, Texas, a sixth generation Texan, and the eldest child of Norman O. and Lucille Pendley Bible. She graduated from Southwest Texas State University, San Marcos, Texas with her bachelor's degree in music and master's degree in education. As a dedicated lifetime educator, Rene worked as a principal and retired from the Austin State School System. Her interests included playing bridge, hunting deer at Leakey, Texas and singing barbershop for over 20 years with the Alamo Metro Chapter of Sweet Adelines International Region 10. Two brothers, Frederick B. Bible (Ann) of San Antonio, Texas, and John B. Bible (Colette) of Portland, Texas, survive her. Two nieces, Jessica Leigh Bible and Kylee Elizabeth Bible, two nephews, John-Thomas Reagan Bible and Frederick (Rick) B. Bible Jr. (Velma), and a grandnephew Hayden Thomas Bible, also survive her. Visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 30th, and funeral services will be held on Friday, July 31, 2009 at 10:00 am at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home - North Chapel, 3125 N. Lamar, Austin, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, July 31, 2009 at Sunset Memorial Park, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, Texas.
