Lydia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Lydia was a natural caregiver at heart where she cared for her 6 children and later cared for the children of others for decades in her East Austin home. She worked as an Austin Independent school District cafeteria worker where she made warm meals for the students she loved to serve. She created a home where anyone could come by and have a warm plate of food with tortillas or tamales. She enjoyed having friends and family come by to visit her.
Lydia has been a long-time member of Sta. Julia Church along with her family. She worked over two decades in the Mosqueda breakfast group alongside her father and family. Alongside her husband and children she sponsored and contributed to several fundraising events for over half her life for the benefit of her neighborhood church which was just a few blocks from her home.
Lydia loved her parish and community and was a devoted servant. She was a member of the Guadalupanas: a Mexican-American Catholic women’s group that provides leadership for social concerns and performing works of charity. She also served in their breakfast group for decades until recently. She was a devoted follower of the Virgin de Guadalupe. She unselfishly gave to her community with unwavering loyalty.
She was proud to serve and join the rich history of her family’s love and contributions before her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Guadalupe Montana Mosqueda- Mother and Jesus (Jesse) Mosqueda- Father; her brothers, David Mosqueda, Alex Mosqueda; her sister Virginia Mosqueda Contreras and her Husband Juventino (Gene) Lopez.
She is survived by her children: Judy Trevino (Armando Trevino), Julia Lopez, Mary Lopez, Dorothy Lopez, Cynthia Lopez and Gene Jr. Lopez. Her grandchildren: Amanda Trevino DeLeon (Joseph DeLeon), Nicole Miller (Aaron Miller), Ashley Miller (Cody Miller). Her Great-grandchildren: Isabella DeLeon, Elicia DeLeon, Lilly Miller, and Kora Miller. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins that loved her and will miss her dearly.
