Marcena Quesenberry, 91, of Dale Texas, passed away Monday, August 18, 2014. She was born on a small farm in Highland, Kansas on September 25, 1922. She had a brother, Oscar and a sister, Alama. When Marcena was 22 years old, she moved to Texas with her good friend, Helen Fenley. They were junior college students and found jobs at the University Of Texas Health Center.
In 1944, Marcena met Gerald Quesenberry at the University of Texas, at the United States Naval Reserve and later married. Marcena continued her love for medicine and worked for Dr. Charles Bailey for over 25 years and assisted in caring for President Lyndon B. Johnson. After retiring from medicine, Marcena continued working for the next 10 years for the City of Austin Taxing Department.
Marcena is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald and her parents,Chester W. Neibling and Bessie May Pruett Neibling. She is survived by her son, Richard Quesenberry and his wife Val.
Marcenia not only married a sailor, she married the love of her life who was a good husband and father.
A graveside service will be held, Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home Memorial Park.
