Margaret R. Alvarez

March 2, 1949October 2, 2020

Margaret R. Alvarez, age 71 of Austin, passed away on Friday, October 2, 2020. She was born to Julian and Lucy Ramos on March 2, 1949 in Austin, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Julian Ramos Jr.

Margaret is survived by her husband of nearly 50 years, Amador Alvarez Jr.; Daughters, Veronica Larson and husband Trey, Stephanie Alvarez, Julieann Hartsburg and husband Steve; Grandchildren, Eric Michael Larson, Jacob Taylor Larson, and Avery Margaret Hartsburg; Siblings, Mary Martinez, Dora De Los Santos, Olga Burdine, Robert Ramos and wife Cathy, Susie Martinez and husband Herbert, Virginia Corona and husband Charles, Gloria Moreno and husband Rick, Eddie Ramos and wife Wanda, Dolores Dominguez, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Margaret dedicated almost 30 years to the State of Texas with most of those years spent working for the Texas Department of Agriculture. When she retired from the State, she got a part-time job working for American Institutes for Research (AIR). She finally retired for good on September 30, 2019. During this time, she devoted her days to taking care of her grandsons, Eric and Jacob, whom she adored and loved immensely. She always looked forward to seeing Eric on stage or Jacob playing baseball. She was so ready to do the same with her newest pride and joy, Avery Margaret. She always went above and beyond for her grandchildren. She loved to travel and enjoyed her yearly trips with her sisters and weekend drives to the Hill Country where she would take in all the beauty around her, especially the flowers. She loved fresh flowers.

Margaret loved her family and friends with her whole heart. She was so giving and so willing to help those in need and she always did it with a smile like no other. Her smile could light up a room. She was the best Wife, Mom, Gran, Sister, and Friend. She will always be in our hearts and forever in our memories.

The Family wishes to thank the Ramos, Alvarez and Guebara Family for all their love and support over the last 9 months. We would also like to thank Dr. Jennifer Wright and the wonderful staff at Texas Oncology.

I was Margaret hairdresser and friend. I can remember her smile and her beautiful personality. Margaret was so uplifting when she would come in to the salon even when she wasn't feeling well before her diagnosis. She was more concerned how my family was.doing. We talked about our families and how much we loved our grandchildren. I am thankful for My time with this amazing woman. My heart goes out to her family and friends she will be truly missed. Sincerely Lisa

My dearest neighbors I cannot express my sorrow at the news of Margaret’s passing. We are still in shock to know her beautiful smiling face will not be greeting us anymore. She was a beautiful lady with a beautiful heart full of kindness. Your family means so much to us as you have always been close by to help; especially with my parents. Her joy and laughter were infectious. Your day was always left brighter after her conversations. We will miss her chocolate peanuts but more than anything we will miss her quiet welcoming presence Nextdoor. I can still hear her voice calling the grandsons or her precious “Chach”. We love you all.
