

Margaret Knippa Best, age 99, of Georgetown, and formerly of Austin, died October 11, 2012. She was born to Mr. and Mrs. A.C. Knippa in Austin on June 4, 1913. She graduated from Austin High School and attended the University of Texas. She married Ernest Best, Jr. in 1933. He died in 1975 and in 1984 Margaret moved to Bastrop. In 2007 she became a resident of Wesleyan Nursing Home in Georgetown.
Preceding Margaret in death were her parents; her husband Ernest; three sisters Elfrieda Eitelman, Evelyn Behnken, Doris Alyne Knippa, and her brother Edgar Knippa.
During World War II, she worked as a bookkeeper in her family's business, Kash-Karry Grocery Stores. For many years she was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Austin. While living in Bastrop she was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. At the time of death, she was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Georgetown.
Margaret is survived by her three children: Rev. Steve and Nancy Best of Georgetown, Margaret and William Trent of Fairfax, VA; Tom and Catherine Best of Austin, and her sisters Irma Koehneke of Appleton, WI, and Marilyn Beto of Austin.
She also leaves to cherish her memory six grandchildren: Shari Kasberg (Randy); Stephen Best (Wendy); Carrington Tibbetts (Larry); Michael Trent (Kelly); Mark Trent (Alison); Alice Best; and four step grandchildren: Pam Rush (Mark); Paul Williams (Terry); Valerie Branch; and Chuck Williams (Sylvia). She is also blessed with twenty-three great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and a host of other relatives and friends.
All who knew Margaret will remember her as a loving, kind, and generous woman.
Pallbearers are Shari Kasberg, Michael Trent, Stephen Best, Mark Trent, Carrington Tibbetts, and Alice Best.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 North Lamar in Austin; Rev. Cheryl Lamaak officiating. Burial will follow at Austin Memorial Park.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Weed-Corley-Fish on Tuesday beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Margaret's relatives and friends are truly grateful for the loving and compassionate care given her by Wesleyan Hospice and The Wesleyan at Scenic Nursing Home in Georgetown.
