

Margaret Cashin Margaret Thorpe Cashin passed away on November 2, 2003 in Austin, Texas. She was born in Austin on December 20, 1920 to Margaret and Jack Thorpe. She graduated from Austin High School and the University of Texas, and taught at All Saints Episcopal School and then at Robert E. Lee Elementary. She married Jack Cashin in 1945 and became a full time mother and housewife during which time she was active in many organizations. Among these were The Womens Symphony League, the Settlement Club, Junior Helping Hand and the Austin Heritage Society. In 1972, she co-founded Cashin & Associates with her husband, Jack, and continued her work there until her retirement in 1986. She was a lifelong member of St. Davids Episcopal Church. Her parents, her husband Jack, her brother Jack Thorpe, her sister Frances Chamness and her nephew Robert Thorpe preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Sarah Summers and her husband Mac Summers, Nora Jackson and her husband Jim Jackson, her grandsons, Paul Foster and John Jackson and her sister-in-law Louise Thorpe. Her nieces and nephew Mary Carol Buchholz, Laura Mathis and Mike Thorpe and their spouses also survive her. They, along with all who knew her, can attest to her enduring love of children, love of animals, her charm and grace, and her perpetual smile. Her unparalleled positive spirit will remain with us forever. Funeral services will be held at St. Davids Episcopal Church at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 7, 2003. A graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery and a reception will follow. The family wishes to thank Tony Kimbell and Scott Rives at Whispering Meadows Personal Care Home for their care of Margaret.
