

Margaret Cooper Hibbetts died in Dallas, Texas on December 29, 2009. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Hibbetts was born on August 21, 1914 in Tulia, Texas. She was the second of three children of Clyde and Janie Cooper. Mrs. Hibbetts graduated from Tulia High School in 1931. She then attended Simmons University and graduated with a primary education degree from West Texas State Teachers College in 1935. Mrs. Hibbetts taught first and second grade students in Childress and Amarillo, Texas from 1934 to 1941. On February 14, 1943, she married Robert J. Hibbetts in Tulia, Texas. During World War II they lived in Waco, Texas and Dayton, Ohio. In 1946, they returned to Amarillo where Mr. Hibbetts worked as a Certified Public Accountant for H. V. Robertson & Company. While living in Amarillo, Mrs. Hibbetts was an active member of Polk Street United Methodist Church and did volunteer work with Meals on Wheels and Northwest Hospital. After moving to Austin in 1978, she was a member of Tarrytown United Methodist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Austin CPA Wives' Club. In 2006, she moved to Dallas. Mrs. Hibbetts was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years; her parents; her brother, C.L. Cooper; and her sister, Romayne Cooper Noble. She is survived by her son, James C. Hibbetts and his wife Kay; grandson, Christopher Hibbetts and his wife Traci; granddaughter, Kimberly Hibbetts; and a number of nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express its gratitude to the staff of Signature Pointe on the Lake and VITAS Hospice for their loving, professional care. There will be a visitation at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 North Lamar, Austin, Texas from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 1, 2010. Burial will be at Austin Memorial Park, 2800 Hancock at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2010. A memorial service will follow at Tarrytown United Methodist Church, 2601 Exposition, at 3:30 p.m. with Reverend Ann Beaty officiating. Memorials may be made to Tarrytown United Methodist Church or to the charity of the donor's choice.
