Margaret Elizabeth ("Peggy") Staehely was born to Cecil Herbert Camp and Fannie Lee Cobb Camp on March 15, 1924 in Vernon, Alabama. She and her brother, Cecil spent their childhood years in Birmingham, Alabama. Peggy attended Thomas Jefferson High School in San Antonio where she was a member of the Polyhymnian Sorority. She then attended and graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in Austin where she fell in love with Sgt. Alfred Staehely. They married on October 12, 1943. Peggy loved to play the piano and was a talented singer who loved the music of Ella Fitzgerald and Erol Garner. She learned to paint china from her dear friend Margaret Hart, she also volunteered at Seton Hospital and West Austin Little League.
Preceding her in death are her husband, Alfred, her brother Cecil, her half-brother Richard Camp, and her half-sister Martha Jane. She is survived by her children, Al Staehely and John Staehely and his wife Diana, as well as her grandchildren, Sheila Hurt and her husband Wes, Christian Staehely, Julian Staehely, and Tobias Wilson and half-brother George Camp.
Visitation will be on Sunday, the 4th of August from 12:00 pm to 3 pm at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 North Lamar Blvd. Austin, Texas.
The funeral service will be on Monday, the 5th of August at 11:00 a.m. at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home with Pastor George Tuthill officiating. A reception will be held directly following the services in the reception hall.
