Margie Harrell, 74, of Austin, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on March 1, 1950, in Austin and was the daughter of the late Lucy Mae Washington Arnold and George Arnold, Jr.
She attended Old L.C. Anderson and was valedictorian of the class of 1968. She was an officer of the National Honor Society, played the flute in the band, and was also a majorette. She joined Grant Worship Center in 1986 and was a faithful member. She served on the usher board until the Lord called her home. There, she greeted everyone with a smile that showed warmth and love.
She was a Resolution Specialist and Tax Payer Advocate Manager at IRS for 37 years. During this time she trained and mentored many employees. In addition, she received national acclaim for her expeditious handling of sensitive case matters. As a result, she was awarded bonuses and other mementos yearly.
Outside of work, Margie enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. She loved being around her family, watching her judge shows, taking occasional trips to the casino with Lilian (Mawmaw), FaceTiming with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and being a loyal Dallas Cowboys fan. Friends and family will remember her for her quick wit, her back-and-forth loving banter with her husband, which the family thoroughly enjoyed, her kind heart, and her ability to light up a room with her laughter.
She was preceded in death by her two sisters, Dannie Marie Arnold and Marilyn Joyce Williams, one brother, George Arnold, and two grandsons Jaquan Parson and William B.J. Crooks, Jr.
Margie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister known for her unwavering support and love for her family. She is survived by her beloved husband of 38 years, Donald Harrell, Sr.; her children, Michelle (Cornelius) Parson, Genet (Samuel) Draper, and Donald (Tequila) Harrell, Jr. Her cherished grandchildren, Cornelius Parson, II, Jeremy (Ginger) Carter, RaeChaun Edwards, Mya Parson, Sa’Riyah Draper, Savannah Harrell, Jakarrian Draper, Samuel Draper. She had eleven great-grandchildren. She also left to cherish her memories, brother, Lawrence Arnold; sister, Jessie Arnold Moore; mother-in-law, Lilian Simms; brother-in-law, Harry Williams, Sr.; and sister-in-law, Shirley Temesgen, Doris Burton, and Debra Clark. And a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
