Margo Burt of Austin TX passed away on February 25, 2026, at the age of 84, after a long battle with dementia. She was born on February 10, 1942, in Edinburgh, Scotland. Margo and her twin (Norman) were the youngest of nine children.
Margo worked as manager of the Round Rock ISD food service department. She worked her way up from a part-time lunch lady at an elementary school, to managing the whole organization.
She is preceded in death by her father Charles Gibson, mother Catherine Gibson, and siblings Charlie, Henry, Rena, Dolly, Albert, Barty, and Frank. Also preceded in death by her grandson Grant.
She is survived by her husband Bob, sons Britt and Derrick, granddaughter Madison and great-grandson Parker.
Margo’s passion was her family and enjoying life. She wanted nothing more than to see her children succeed and do better than she did. She was a great singer. She was an amazing cook. She loved music and dancing. She made sure that everyone she met felt comfortable and included. She never turned down an opportunity for a party with friends and family. She was especially fond of animals, specifically dogs. She loved all dogs and all dogs loved her. She had a special talent for making them sing and howl.
The family would like to thank Magnolia Hospice for the care and compassion they showed Margo in her final days. We especially want to thank Melanie Guzman, RN, and Jennifer Harms.
Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life at 11:00 a.m. on March 21, 2026, at Cook Walden Chapel of the Hills at 9700 Anderson Mill Rd., Austin, TX 78750.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in her honor to your favorite charity, especially an animal rescue charity.
