Daughter of Rev. Leopoldo Dominguez & Refugio Alatorre was born in Mexico City, MX on February 9, 1930. Her family moved to San Antonio TX when she was a teenager. She is a graduate of Lee University in Cleveland, TN. She met the love of her life “Benny” and they married 6 months later in 1954. They moved to California where they lived for 31 years and returned to Austin, TX in 1991.
She lovingly cared for and helped raise multiple nieces, nephews, and friends’ children as if they were her own. She lived a life of God, Family, and Service throughout her life and spent several years teaching Sunday school. She was an active member of Westoak Woods Baptist Church. She always maintained a positive attitude and believed in the basic goodness of all people – she believed that we are made in the image of God and are born with the purpose of glorifying and serving our Savior Lord Jesus Christ, as well as those in need. She encouraged all to "do your best in everything you do", to believe in God, to be kind to one another and the importance and strength of the family bond.
Maria is survived by her husband of 67 years, Ben Ramirez, her daughter, Gabrielle Ramirez of Austin, TX, her grand=daughters Rachel (Luke) Ritchie, Rebecca Ramirez both of Austin, TX, great-granddaughters Claire & Mia, sister Maria Elena Calderon of Perris, CA, sister-in-law Mary Helen Reichert of Austin, TX, and numerous extended family members.
A celebration of Life will be held on April 22, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home and Memorial Park.
